The freak who had a lot to say about Senbei that one time has now played Date Senbei and has read through the AUs and I'm feeling #normal. I wanted to talk about it, so I'm gonna talk about it here. I hope you don't mind this huge word-dump about your messed up rabbit(s) and the associated canines.
I was giggling and kicking my feet n shit playing the game. Obsessed with him being called a closet case twice by two separate people. "Sweater-wearing f**" "The slur is unnecessary :/." The way he shrinks in on himself when he's caught with the doll. And I. Am. OBSESSED. WITH THE MENTAL GYMNASTICS THIS FUCKING FREAK GOES THROUGH. It's my favorite thing about him. He's deranged!! It's delightful!! I want to throw him into a wall and see him SPLAT like a cartoon.
Obsessed with how Senbei is Like That, and how he says he wants to continue to see Manjuu for the sake of appeasing his parents, and yet his dad is totally chill with the idea of him dating not just a man, but a Wolf Man. Though the existence of the Mason AU also implies that the majority of his #issues arise from his mother's side. Also, the one time he openly expresses his queerness without hesitation, he is immediately told that he's lying. ("Danny used to say the same thing. I'm not falling for it twice!!") By the same rabbit who calls him a slur in another route (funny as it is). So I've come to the conclusion that it's possibly largely rabbit society that has instilled his internalized Stuff.
(He has anti-wolf bigotry (obviously originates from rabbit culture), but I view that as a sort of allegory/metaphor/adjacent for internalized queerphobia. Or, at least in the specific context of him and Timber. Which is aided by him seemingly having non-allegorical internalized homophobia, too, as evidenced by him feeling the need to be with a woman for appearances. I like that the whole rabbit/wolf conflict can be seen as a metaphor for a lot of different things, depending on which lens you view it through.)
Small Twigs tangent. Love that Twigs is morally bankrupt. Senbei IS right that, if they had to look the families of those that Timber murdered in the eye, they would probably have a much harder time. Or maybe they wouldn't. It reminds me of what Timber says about the rabbits in the Slate AU: "The rabbits didn't care (about the wolf children going hungry) because they could just look away." Does Twigs not care about the innocent people that Timber murdered because they can just look away? Because they only know Timber's perspective, and they refuse to entertain any other perspective? They're kind of an awful person. And that whole "You know what your problem is, Mason?" speech in the Slate AU. It's awesome. I love a cutesy nonbinary puppything who is fine with their loved ones committing heinous crimes and can be mean as shit.
And the Mason AU. Ough. DOOMED!!! So very doomed. So very well-meaning and kind and so very doomed to uphold existing systems. I also want to throw Mason against a wall and make him go SPLAT. Mason is autistic To Me. ("How do you always manage to say the exact wrong thing? ... I'm not offended. I thought it was hilarious!" "But... I don't really understand what was so funny about it..." and basically the entire conversation after that. ESPECIALLY "But (if you don't sit here and explain everything to me) then how can I understand...?" Which is something I have said word-for-word before, wrt Social Transgressions.) I suppose that also makes Senbei autistic To Me by proxy. I support autistic rights, but I don't support Senbei's autistic wrongs :/
ALSOO in the Slate AU. "They killed everyone." "No, I think it was just the violent ones... We talked about it in class!" This is what I meant by the wolf/rabbit conflict being so interesting from multiple POVs. This particular tidbit has very clear racial coding, and the whole AU very specifically reminds me of the plights of the Indigenous population. Undergoing genocide which was erased from the history books. There's a long history of Indigenous children systematically being taken from their families and cultures, and being forced to adopt and assimilate to settler society. AND THEN OSMANTHUS LEAVING BECAUSE IT WAS "TOO POLITICAL" WHEN IT'S CENTERING A GROUP THAT IS NOT HIS OWN AND THE CURRENT POLITICAL LANDSCAPE AROUND "WOKE MEDIA" AND. BITEBITEBITE sorry. I'm normal. EXCEPT I'M NOT BECAUSE THE HOWLING SCENE AND TRANSFORMING INTO A WOLF IN ORDER TO EXPRESS DESPAIR AT LOSING HIS CULTURE TO GENOCIDE AGH
Okay I literally hit the text limit. I had more to say (specifically abt the Slate AU) but I don't wanna be annoying so I'll cut myself off here lol. In conclusion, I stand by my original assessment that Senbei needs to self-actualize for once in his fucking life. And Mason needs to be chained up and forced to read political theory for like 48 hours straight.

Ur legit eveything I've ever wanted to be, I have been dreaming of making stuff like comics and games and whatever the heck but the problem is that I don't think I have the time to learn all this stuff, but seeing this page made me go
